ICAR-CIRB Partners with Nagaland Bio Resource Mission for Buffalo Development
Hisar, 4th September 2025: ICAR–Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (ICAR-CIRB), Hisar, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Nagaland Bio Resource Mission (NBRM), Government of Nagaland to promote buffalo development in the state.
The MoU was signed between Dr. Yashpal Sharma, Director, ICAR-CIRB, and Mr. Wezope Kenye, IAS, Agriculture Production Commissioner, Government of Nagaland, in the presence of officials from the Department of Agriculture, Civil Secretariat, and the NBRM team led by Dr. Tsurho (Team Leader & HoD) and Mr. Lanusunep.
A demonstration unit will be established at Razhaphe Basa, Chumukedima, as part of the project. The initiative will be jointly led by scientists from ICAR-CIRB, including Dr. Ashok Kumar Balhara, Dr. Sanjay Kumar, and Dr. Ashok Boora, along with the NBRM team consisting of Dr. Tsurho, Mr. Lanusunep Aier, and Ms. Keneiluo Dzuvichii.
The collaboration is expected to enhance buffalo-based livelihoods and integrate scientific expertise with Nagaland’s rich bio-resources for sustainable livestock development
