The SAARC training at ICAR-CIRB, HISAR concludes
A 6-day training programme on ‘Herd Health Management of Dairy Buffaloes’ sponsored by SAARC at the ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Hisar concluded on August 27,2016. The valedictory programme was graced by Dr. SM Bokhtiar, Director, SAARC Agriculture Centre, Dhaka, Bangladesh, Dr. B.N. Tripathi, Director, National Research Centre on Equine and Dr. Tayan Raj Gurung, Senior Program manager from the SAARC Centre. The training which started on August 22, had 17 participants from 5 member countries – Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Sri Lanka and India. Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Director, Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes, Hisar and Course Director for the program told the audience that during this training there were deliberation on various aspects of buffalo farming covering diverse areas including nutrition, reproduction, health, breeding and management. Dr. Singh expressed his gratitude to SAARC Centre for giving this opportunity to CIRB Scientific faculty.
Dr. Bokhtiar, who has travelled all the way from Dhaka for this function expressed his happiness over the successful completion of training and the facilities extended by the hosts to the participants. On the occasion, Dr. Bokhtiar told that the goal of SAARC Ariculture Centre is the promotion of scientific agriculture for sustainable agricultural development and poverty alleviation in the SAARC region. India has proved itself as an ‘Agriculture Superpower’ through its large R& D programs and ensuring food security brought about by the ‘Green’ and ‘White’ revolutions. The SAARC member countries have always looked towards India for training of its scientific manpower in various areas of science for improvement in farm sectors including dairy. The Training was coordinated by Dr. RK Sharma, Dr. Anurag Bharadwaj, Dr. KP Singh and Dr. SS Paul.
