 SAARC livestock experts to be trained at ICAR-CIRB, HISAR

 The world over, livestock has proved its worthiness as an instrument for livelihood sustainability especially in the rural areas. The SAARC forum recognized this fact very well and has sought help form the largest SAARC member, India for training of experts drawn from member countries. India is leading dairy producer with high degree of expertise in buffalo farming. Consequently, India offered it expertise and technology in elite research Institutes for training of the livestock scientist.


Under this agreement, the Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes (CIRB), Hisar of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR) under the egis of Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers’ Welfare, Govt. of India will be training 17 scientists from five SAARC countries- Bangladesh, Nepal, Pakistan, Sri Lanka and India from August 22 to 27, 2016. The UN and ISO certified, CIRB Hisar is well recognised for its high quality research focussing on scientific buffalo production systems.


Dr. Inderjeet Singh, Director, told that it is a matter of pride for the Institute to host the SAARC sponsored training on ‘Herd Health Management of Dairy Buffaloes’ for SAARC member country experts. The deliberations in the program will be mutually beneficial to the participantsas well as to the host faculty in view of the professional profileof the participants. The training will be inaugurated on August 22 by Dr. Trilochan Mahapatra, Secretary and Director General, in presence of Dr. Habibur Rahman, Deputy Director General (Animal Sciences), ICAR, New Delhi.
