Training on scientifically improved nutritional & management practices for buffalo husbandry in village Landhri

CIRB organised   four days off-campus training for farmers on scientific nutritional & management practices for improving buffalo productivity in village Landhri, Hisar. 116 respondents participated in training from 14- 17 June. Scientists discussed important topics as salient phenotype characters to identify Murrah breed for procurement, significance of feeding balanced -ration and regular use of mineral mixture to prevent incidence of several reproduction and production related problems through lectures under able guidance of Director, Dr Inderjeet Singh.

Experts demonstrated the use of institute web-site by farmers for making buffalo related quarries and giving feedback to scientists using interactive platform, developed under ICT initiatives to communicate with scientists in a group of participants.

Essentials like maintenance of records of incidence of disease, oestrus symptoms, details of vaccination/ semen doses of AI, days of insemination and their role in improvement of animal performance were discussed during training. All queries related to buffalo health problems as enquired by farmers were responded by Veterinary health experts. Health doctors attended to problems related to dystokia, mastitis, postpartum anoestrus, post abortion infections, underweight calves, etc.

Agreement for Commercialization of Area Specific Mineral Mixture

ICAR-Central Institute for Research on Buffaloes entered into an agreement for a period of ten years on non-exclusive basis with Titanic Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. on 5th May 2016, for commercialization of Area Specific Mineral Mixture (ASMM) developed by the scientists of the Institute. Under this agreement, ICAR-CIRB will provide the know-how of the said ASMM technology to Titanic Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd. Use of ASMM is very important for scientific feeding of buffaloes to meet their nutritional requirements. Supplementation of rations with ASMM helps to improve production. It also helps to reduce reproductive problems in buffaloes.

At present, CIRB is preparing ASMM for demonstrating the technology to farmers and for use in the ration of buffaloes on its own farm. The institute is not manufacturing ASMM on large scale. Considering the popularity of ASMM among farmers and increasing demand, this agreement was signed so that its commercial production can be initiated and large number of farmers may benefit from its use. The agreement was signed by Director, CIRB Dr. Inderjeet Singh and Director, Titanic Pharmaceuticals, Sh. Chandi Ram. On this occasion Dr. B S Punia, Head, Division of Animal Nutrition & Feed Technology, Dr. V.B. Dixit, In-charge Institute Technology Management Unit, Sh. Chetan Issar, Administrative Officer and Sh. Mahesh Kumar, Finance and Account Officer were also present.
